Bitchslicer :: Interveiwed by Radikal Primates Zine (October 2007)
RPZ :: Hello Guys, is everyone ok?
BS :: Yeah, everyone is doing good.
RPZ :: Tell us a little history of the band and what inspired influenced
you all to take part form it?
BS :: Well I (King Gary) am the only original member, but the band is now,
and has always been, all about hanging out, having a good time, playing, and
recording music. As far as what influences the band ... Good Music (Metal and
Non-Metal), Horror Movies, The Smooth Warm Taste of Bourbon, & Pornography.
RPZ :: How would you describe your bands sound?
BS :: Horror, Porn, & Whiskey Soaked Thrash Metal
RPZ :: Is Bitchslicer really the worst band name ever? Well, can you name
some bands with totally ridiculous names?
BS :: According to some people it is, & I bet they have never heard
of bands like Prostitute Disfigurement, or Misogynist Pussy Slasher.
RPZ :: So, Lycanthropic Fellatio had been out for a while now. Can you tell
us what the album is all about?
BS :: The CD doesn't really have a unified direction or theme but I think
that the range of the two cover songs on the CD will give you a pretty good
idea of the flavor. There is a sweet pussy style, acoustic ballad version of
GG Allin's "Gimme Some Head" and then a speed metal version of Willie
Nelson's "Momma's Don't let your Babies Grow up to Be Cowboys". Everything
else falls in between somewhere.
RPZ :: Whats the general reaction to it? Have you received many orders
now?
BS :: The reaction has been good, the reviews have been good, and we have
gotten a decent amount of orders ... but we always sell way more at our shows.
RPZ :: Are you satisfied with this album or do you think that there can be
more improvement that can be done?
BS :: Major improvements could be made to this album !!! One of my biggest
problems is the drum sound. Recording it was a kind of a, now or never, type
situation, as the lineup very shaky at this point. So the drum sound that we
got worked, but it is not the best drum sound. The exact same problem is still
why no one has ever heard Bitchslicer II :: Count Drunkula. So I just mixed
it the best I could with out spending a year editing and performing voodoo on
the drum sounds. In the end I don't think its that bad, but it is also not that
good.
RPZ :: Whats on the plate for another album? Any unusual subjects to
cover this time?
BS :: Well (deep breath) ... Eventually after many moons of audio surgery
I one day plan to release "Bitchslicer II :: Count Drunkula", we are
very close to finishing and releasing "Bitchslicer IV :: Sex with Sharks",
which is going to sound WAY BETTER than any of our previous releases. Beyond
that there is another acoustic ballad ep called "one for the ladies - II",
a full length acoustic/country type album tentatively titled "Bitchslicer
V :: The Truth about Unicorns". The original drummer and I recorded all
the drum tracks for a non-humorous metal album at the beginning of the summer,
tentatively titled "Bitchslicer VI :: Demoni". All of the above mentioned
album are in production, at one stage or another. But we already have some new
METAL material ready for Bitchslicer VII ...
RPZ :: Well, I got to ask this, what it fells like being the occasional
band that brings light to this vague scene (grindcore) (review from Metal
Archive)?
BS :: hahahaha, I have no idea.
RPZ :: Your art could be considered as offensive in a country like Philippines,
but what do you think of it?
BS :: Well ... it's not meant to offend anyone, all that matters to me is
that the artwork makes me laugh.
RPZ :: When can we say that an artist had crossed the line between offensiveness
and entertaining?
BS :: Never !!!
RPZ :: Speaking of arts, one of your famous designs is the Sex with
Shark one. Who did that and whats the inspiration?
BS :: Mo Moussa of momoussa.com did the artwork for that. The idea was from
something a friend of mine did back in 96/97 ... he took a porn magazine page
of sex adds and put cut outs of sharks in the pictures and changed the word
blurbs to all relate to sharks. The girls would be saying things like "i
want to feel your big thick cock inside me, shark" it was great. He put
a lot of time into it so now the joke has taken on a life of its own.
RPZ :: Is sex with sharks really possible?
BS :: I am sure it is possible, but probably not like in the picture ...
I have done zero scientific research to make sure that we are providing an accurate
representation.
RPZ :: Bitchslicer is inspired with horror and porn. How are you able to
incorporate that in your lyrics and or music?
BS :: Hmmm ... well musically there are some darker melodies worked into
the riffs, some stuff inspired by and music in horror movies, and then the lyrics
are either horror, porn, or both. I guess it is more in the attitude and the
vibe of the song. We will just jam on stuff until it takes form and normally
the ideas for the lyrics happen while we work it out. We have also had our music
used in a few indy horror films.
RPZ :: Well, whats your top 5 horror films? Is there any film/s that scares
you?
BS :: Texas Chainsaw Massacre (best movie ever made), Exorcist III, Maniac,
Cemetery Man (aka Dellemorte Dellamore), Howling. The Exorcist III is terrifying.
In my adult life, that movie has caused me to have nightmares and then sleep
with the lights on for the rest of the night after watching it.
RPZ :: Im also a rabid horror films addict and I just want to know whats
your favorite one, the ultra violent, gore films or the Japanese styled atmospheric
ones like The Ring and The Grudge?
BS :: Ultra Violence !!! I like the others a lot also but to me nothing
beats the violence.
RPZ :: What you ever seen The Hostel? Do you believe that that movie had
crossed the line into the overtly misogynistic area? I think this film is one
of the most disturbing films ever!
BS :: Yeah I saw Hostel. I don't think that the movie was overtly misogynistic
or carried an underlying misogynistic message. Perhaps some of the characters
were misogynistic, but then again the girls in the beginning that lured the
college kids in to be killed were predatory, so it is all just a part of the
story. I also think that it is great when movies do push the acceptable boundaries
of what people are used to. That being said, I didn't really like this movie.
The killings & violent stuff was cool, but i wanted everyone in this movie
to die even the killer. I think the concept of the story was great, but for
me the movie shifted between being annoying & being too deliberately shocking.
I think the most disturbing film of all time might be Screeeched !!!
RPZ :: Lets go into porn. Whatre your top 5 porn films ever?
BS :: Re-penetrator, Born Erect, Long Jeanne Silver, Slap Happy Deluxe,
and Perverted Tales
RPZ :: Whats the first porn any of you ever watched? My introduction
to porn films is through what we called here are the pene movies,
those are Filipino movies with sex themes and real intercourse scenes.
BS :: A bunch of those "Swedish Erotica" movies, & "the
Devil in Mrs. Jones" were the first ones that I saw when I was a kid.
RPZ :: What country is the best when it comes to releasing and developing
the porn world?
BS :: Honestly I have no idea ??? I am not very familiar with the market
outside the US, and almost everything we carry in the porn store i work at is
US releases.
RPZ :: Japan made some very cool porn movies and also the most extremes one!
Whats the most extreme porn youve ever watched?
BS :: I do not doubt that. I think one of the most extreme things that I
have seen is a japanese girl eating animal shit. Another when two dogs cum inside
this girl and then afterwards she takes turns licking the two dogs asses. I
want to see the real hard to find underground shit in this realm hahahaha.
RPZ :: Have you met any porn stars? If ever, who would you like to spend
a night with? (For me its Hillary Scott and or Sativa Rose!)
BS :: I know Alyssa Sinclaire (from www.hotties-unlimited.com), & I
got Gina Lynn's autograph when she did an in store type thing at the porn store
I work at. As far as who would I want to spend a night with ... it would be
a toss up between Crystal Clear, Bridget the Midget, or Annebelle (from the
last couple "Housewives Unleashed")
RPZ :: Um, back to your art. Whos that Skeletor-looking dude on the
cover of Lycanthropic Fellatio?
BS :: He is the Green Skull. It didn't really start out intending to be
so "Skeletor" looking, but when the dude gave me back the preliminary
sketches it was just too bad ass to mess with.
RPZ :: There are bands you have strong album art but weak sounds, do you
think that the bands artwork could eclipse the band itself as what happened
to many bands before?
BS :: Oh yeah. artwork is marketing.
RPZ :: Oh, do you have regular contacts in Asia? What do you think of Asian
people? Do you think that were all inherently rip-offs?
BS :: I have met a few people online but i don't have any regular contacts.
I don't think asian people are rip offs ???
RPZ :: Well, whatre the bands future plans?
BS :: Record, Play out as much as possible, and have a great time doing
it all.
RPZ :: Thanks for answering this interview. Anything you want to add? Do
you guys have mailing address? Its cool to receive a real letter once
in a while, isnt it? Thanks again and good luck.
BS :: Thank You for the interview, and I am very sorry it took so long for
me to finish. My mailing address is ...
